Code:
1234567890
FIXEDWIDTH
fixedwidth
1234567890
f i x e d
F I X E D
1234567890
little
LITTLE

Not so fixed after all (firefox-68.12.0)? Any other browsers showing fi taking just one fixed slot?

Looks fixed width to me (each character in its own "slot") Firefox 68.12.0esr. Monospace: Default (Liberation mono).

I have made some changes to .mozilla/firefox/.../chrome/userChrome.css because by default, the browser seems poorly configured. Fonts too small to read ("preferences" was only minimally helpful). Pages seem to have an odd layout as if they were zoomed way out, despite indicating 100%. Whatever adjustments I've made were attempts to make that less bad. I haven't yet figured out how to make the "developer console" (?) fonts readable, but I almost never use it. I'm surprised it is that difficult to get a consistent UI experience.

Okay... If I set it to choose my own fonts, it looks fine. Letting the webpage dictate fonts makes it look funny.
So I might have a messed up font somewhere, no clue what font f.g.o selects for code blocks...

Maybe "fi" is swapped with the character fi (U+FB01) automatically by Firefox. Maybe it does that for some (but not other) locale settings ?

I'm not sure it actually got swapped because I can individually select each "f" and "i" with my mouse cursor, but cannot do so with the fi glyph:
Code:
12345
fixed
FIXED
12345
fixed (glyph)

Strange, anyone else seeing this or is this a one-off?

BTW looks like f.g.o defaults to Courier, 'Courier New', monospace in the stylesheet for code...hmm... what happens if I explicitly specify courier...nope can't seem to duplicate by explicitly setting fonts. Weird...

Code:
12345678
f1f1f1f1
fifififi
F1F1F1F1
FIFIFIFI

Hi. I dug this topic out of OTW and bumping it now.

I also suffer from this fi -problem.
Let's see my code tag:
Code:
FIXEDWIDTH
fixedwidth

FIFIFI
fififi
... yeah, the fi -glyph shows up. Firefox 115.10.0esr here.
