I'm getting tired of trying to set my clock with ntp (Do this many clock related posts always show up around daylight savings time? There seems to be quite a few). Is there a way to set the thing manually from within linux? |

Just out of curiosity, why do you have to keep setting your time? That's the whole point of ntp - it does it for you. Perhaps the question you should be asking the forum is "how do I set my ntp configuration so I don't ever have to touch it and my time is always correct?" _________________ Sometimes the appropriate response to reality is to go insane.

I've been trying to set up ntp, and I've been looking at related posts, but it's taking a long time, and I don't like having to mentally subtract four hours every time I check my clock. I plan to continue messing with ntp until it works, but I don't have time right now, so I'm looking for a temporary fix.
As for massimo's post... My bad. Still, looking through it, I wish there were an example. It seems I want 'date --set=?', but I don't know where to go from there. I just want to set the thing back by four hours. |

Example: sets the clock to September, 10th, 12:15. You can optionally set the year by appending 2004 to the end of the string. _________________ Hello 911? How are you? |

Thanks, I appreciate your help. I'll probably be back to figuring out ntp sometime next week. |
