Linux is the only OS I use. I did initially set it up as a XP/Linux dualboot but after using partition magic to set up my linux partitions my windows wouldn't boot. I said whatever and setup linux. Since then I never felt the need to fix my windows and will probably get rid of that partition and add the space to my ext3. But, I don't think I do anything productive with any computer, unless you count school papers. But due to the wording of your poll I don't really want to pick either option. |

Well, i never...
I am using Linux for one reason only.
I would pray that others are doing likewise.
My goodness!!
What other reasons are there?! |

Yepp, why play games when you can play gentoo?
EDIT: Gentoo is the only OS I use at the moment, so it's not only a toy. |

I love to play around with linux ...
But since I never had a need to boot into windows for more than 1,5 years, it is clearly production environment. |

Linux is great fun to play around with and learn about, but I have also started to use it on some my clients servers, so I couldn't really tick either of the options as I use it for both. |

I dont have the hardware nor network conn nor financial resources to put up any web servers or to fsck with such things. Although i would really like to
I do basic stuff in Linux, play games, chat, read forums, etc. If there are any new projects or versions of ebuilds, i update them etc. The newest system-critical thing I updated was x.org, so yeah, I use Linux basicly for just playing around and learning a little. |

In the past, linux has just been a toy for me. However, over the past few months, I have discovered that I no longer have any reason not to use linux for production purposes. I said "good bye" to windows back in September and haven't looked back. _________________ Gentoo...it's like wiping your ass with silk. Or sandpaper. |

I said bye to Windows when the drive with it on there wouldn't boot in my system. I've also reformatted that drive and will be installing Gentoo on it for my mom since I've built her a computer.
I myself don't have many "productive" things to do with any OS, so I use Gentoo for gaming and such. I have no reason to use Windows because I already have a nice share of games for Linux. Look in my screenshot for crying out loud. lol However, Windows was much more of a toy to me than Linux, because it was a lot harder to tweak. However, Linux is much easier and more fun to tweak.
Some people don't even know there are that many games natively out there for Linux, so take notes people. |

My primary OS is Linux, although I do tinker a lot. That's part of the appeal for me. I really only boot Windows for the occasional Age of Empires game. _________________ moo |

What if it is useful but not productive? I've got a MythTV box that I rarely "play" with but use all the time. I'm afraid to change any settings now that I have it working perfectly. I don't want to miss the new episodes of Enterprise!
I also have a server which I don't screw with too much, unless I update security, etc. I'm afraid of my webpage and e-mail being down for too long! That box is very much useful and productive.
I do have a 3rd box that I play with and tweak all I want. That box is my Linux "Toy". So I'd have to say yes on both counts... and even one in the middle. _________________ My Folding@home Stats!

a litle bit of both.
Gentoo is my main OS at home. I use it on both my desktop and one of my 2 servers. I also use my home machine to "play". I would consider it more "learning" however as I would dearly love to get to work on linux machines for a living _________________ Someone asked me once if I suffered from mental illness. I am about to replace M$'s OS completely. My main PC runs Gentoo only. Other PC and Laptop still have a W2K partition on them. _________________

Not only did I take Windows off of my system, but I also shot the XP Corporate CD and then beat it into the ground with a crowbar. That was fun and it helped me come to closure with the frustrations of Windows XP. |

as my primary copmuter, linux serves as both the box I do all my work on, and the box I do all my gaming on.
So, both. _________________ iVBORw0KGgoAAAANSUhEUgAAA

Linux has been my only OS for more than five months now so I answered "work" but in fact it's both. It's a very serious OS with which I can do everything I need and it's also a wonderful toy which brings me a lot of pleasure _________________ "Please, forgive my bad English"
Gentoo made me love using my computer again. Thank you to the Gentoo devs and more generally to all the people who makes GNU/Linux possible |

I answered "just a toy" because that's what computer is to me. Just purely for entertainment and of course getting information from internet et cetera. I also consider playing with linux and problems that sometimes occur, quite entertaining and it's fun to solve problems! |

I want to use Linux (Gentoo) for productive work. I will be surfing the web, creating websites, programming (want to start with that) and maintenance of remote desktops which I think will be fun.
Photoshopping and probably a bit of game testing or gaming. However it will take some time until this all is set up on my machine. Anyway I'm sure it will be good. |

I use Linux for everything. Mail and web surfing are a given. I keep all my data in Linux too, manipulate photos, keep track of personal data, etc... I even do development in Linux too.
In fact my only Windows box at home, the only thing I do is run one particular game, and nothing else. And even that is starting to get close to be able to run under Linux too. So does Windows count as a toy OS? _________________ Intel Core i7 2700K/Radeon R7 250/24GB DDR3/256GB SSD

I would have said both, but i suppose it would have been nearly a dup of "Is Gentoo your main OS". |
