I can not emerge rsync the command just hangs for an infinite amount of time. I am running Portage 1.9.11 and even tried the rescue one to 1.8.19 with no luck. I can emerge --prentend or emerge xyz, but emerge rsync just hangs. make.conf is set correctly, I am wondering if this is a problem with the 1.2 of Gentoo as that is what I used, if so guess I get what I get since it is not yet "ready", while rsync emerge is "runing" I can hear my hard disk being accessed heavily.
root@xp333r / # emerge rsync

| Nevermind I fell lika an ass, damn firewall was blocking rsync access, how can I enable it while running the firewall? |

Just from the man pages, it appears to use port 873.
I guess if you punch a hole in it, that should fix it. |
