|
|
Hello,
Sorry for my poor English
I've installed a 2.6.6-rc1 kernel and applied the patch found on http://acpi.sourceforge.org
The problem is that my computer crashes after the grub selection (black screen, no response from a Ctrl + Alt + Supp). But if I put the "acpi=off" option, it works without problem (but, without ACPI too).
Anyone can help me ?
My configuration :
Compaq Presario 2103EU
Athlon XP 2500+
thanks

If I were you, I would use the ACPI that comes with the kernel for now, and not apply development patches.
Also, use a fully stable kernel like 2.6.5, or 2.6.6 which was just released today. _________________ Personal overlay | Simple backup scheme |

I assume you've got a nforce2 board.
There is a known bug with that nforce2 chipset and apic + acpi, though finally in the version 2.6.6 a patch is included and activated automatically. So try that version.
I don't know, what that acpi-patches are about, since that site seems to doesn't exist. But ACPI is already included in the Linux 2.6 series. Just activate it in the kernel configuration.
If you use a nforce2 board you should also use the "acpi_skip_timer_override" boot parameter with the kernel 2.6.6. |

Thanks Ylin, I followed the way of nforce2 and I've found a post which advice to boot with the "nolapic pci=noacpi" options. And now ACPI works... but no longer the touchpad :-/
I don't unterstand the reason of these effects... so if someone have any idea about that... make me a sign |

OK, it's working perfectly with only the "nolapic" option.
I only haven't the Suspend mode but it's not my priority for the moment.
Thank you all |
