The update:
The newest version of redhat-artwork does compile fine with KDE support.
I installed a bunch of engines that I thought were installed already by the gtk-engines ebuild; y'know, the Lila XFce theme looks a lot nicer with the XFce engine installed .
Did you know that the Geramik and ThinGeramik engines, if used in a custom theme with (any window decorations that pick up system colors, and) the Lila icons, result in a green and purple theme that matches the flower background almost perfectly (Geramik gives you more purple; ThinGeramik gives you more green)? Only the mailcheck theme does not pick up the new panel color (hint, hint ).
I was all set to beg somebody to recolor the window interiors (since you can't do it yourself in GNOME like you can in KDE), but now I don't have to.
This is turning out to be a very informative and cool experience! |

Go here and download the following:
svgcolor-xml/lila/lila-blue.xml
svgcolor.py
svgfile.py
svgutils.py
Then run this:
Code: | ./svgcolor.py svgcolor-xml/lila/lila-blue.xml /usr/share/icons/Lila/scalable lila-blue |
That should give you a directory named 'lila-blue' with the icons in blue.
Feel free to read lila-blue.xml and create your own color mods! _________________ Lila themes | The Porthole Portage Frontend | SVG-Utils |

Guys, does the ebuild contain xfce4 panel icon theme, mentioned previously in this thread?
If not, can someone add it?
Thanks |

New lila bootsplash also only in 1024x768 this one uses a modified gnome splash and is more what i was going after so take a look.
to install extraxt to /etc/bootsplash
link /etc/bootsplash/default to lila-purple
edit /etc/conf.d/bootsplash and point bootsplash_theme to default
recompile initrd with the new boot splash.
"only in 1024x768 though" |

When you're updating the XFce4 part, you might as well update the xfwm4 version number to 0.3.1 (which can be downloaded from http://stief.tnux.net/Lila/) and also add the xffm theme (version 0.1, same site).
Thanks!! |

@dgt84: I've been e-mailed by the people who have ported Crystal and Kids to GNOME. They're interested in what we discussed re: unifying icon sets.
How far away are you from getting the conversion script into something worth showing fd.o? Since I'm very short on time at the moment, it'd be good if someone could step up and take charge of this project, and take the discussion either onto the main fd.o mailing list, or onto a new fd.o mailing list (ask for it on the main list) so non-Gentoo users (i.e. the flat author annya, and the Crystal GNOME people at the moment) can join in. |

|
|
I'd like to tackle the Eclipse icon, but I could use some design assistance. Take a look at the Eclipse Artwork page for my starting point - I'm working off of the "2 color (PMS 187-2 + black) logo graphic on light background" image.
The words are removed, and the "planet" is easy; just change colors and add a stroke. Now for the tricky part - the "rays" and the horizontal lines. The icon doesn't fit with the look/feel without a stroke on both, but at 48x48, there's too much detail, too many strokes, and it looks like a mess.
Which details should I keep? Should any elements exist without a stroke? Should I just scrap the official artwork as a basis, and do a cartoon-ish version, similar to the firefox icon?
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. |

Just for fun, I tried that -- it seems perhaps there's a somewhat corrupt SVG in the theme somewhere (some better debugging would be nice. ).. I haven't done much investigation but I'll probably try to figure out which one is giving the script problems later if you don't have any obviously easy solutions for me.

This is using the icons from the second to last ebuild scaba posted (0.3.1-r1).
But FWIW, the icons that DID get converted look nice. I've always been more of a blue guy than a purple guy. |

Yeah, you can't browse the directory, and I can't change that because it's not my server. But, the files are there! The current versions of the xffm, xfce-panel and xfwm4 are on the wiki including links, you can use those links. |

If you're desperate, as part of my KDE theme I've got the whole set in blue PNGs here:

How are the wallpapers coming along? I had a go at one based on gentoo-round from the gentoo-artwork set, in purple. SVG | PNG |

After hacking away all day today (well, when I had time, anyway), I have it working... well... flawlessly by my testing! I think mostly all that's left is to flesh out theme-db.xml and then we can move pretty much any theme GNOME <-> KDE, and I'm working on adding GTK as well (since it corresponds to KDE's actions folder/context). Anyway, to try it out update your cvs checkout and look at themeconvert.py (you might need to change the values, right now it's hard coded for testing, but I wanted to show you it as soon as possible). I've successfully converted the GNOME Lila theme to the 'standard' theme spec (which means nothing at the moment, but hopefully soon will), and from that generated standard theme I've been able to regenerate the GNOME theme!
Let me know of any problems you find!
EDIT: Also tell any of those people to drop by #svg-icons on irc.freenode.net if they are interested! _________________ Lila themes | The Porthole Portage Frontend | SVG-Utils |
