I gues I'm not exactly sure what you're looking for, but...

I like Mutt, personally, and use it and my primary email client. A lot of other people like Pine. One of those two choices is probably your best bet. For popping you mail off a couple servers, the best suggestion is to use something like fetchmail to draw in your mail from both accounts.

Cheers. What would I need to setup? I was looking around the forum and it i appeared i needed a number of programs to setup up mutt successfully. Is this true or do i just need fetch mail and Mutt?

Cheers

I think what the other folks are referring to are the different components of a mail system. Basically, there's the MTA (Mail Transfer Agent) which is something like sendmail, exim, postfix or qmail; then there's the MDA (Mail Delivery Agent) which is probably procmail - qmail comes with it's own MDA; and finally is the mail client.

There are a number of options when considering how you want to setup your mail. For example, this link talks about something similar to what you're doing, and may provide you with some ideas...

There's really a lot to get into when you start talking about setting up a mail system, and some of it has to do with your preferences in how you want to manage your email. Some people in your situation like to setup a separate email server to manage their mail. They'll pull in all their email from different accounts to a central email server, and then access it from there. When you're talking about using a command line email client, then this is probably going to work better for you, since you can run it from anywhere where you can pull up a shell.

But when it comes to settin up servers, some of your decision might hinge on what your ISP will allow you to do as well.

All in all, email has been around for a long time, so there are a lot of options on how to deal with it. What worked for me was to sit down and find out what I could do, and then think about how I wanted to manage my email. I actually sketched out what I wanted it to do, and then went looking for all of the programs that would do it for me.

Use getmail and forget the memory leaks and buffer overflows from fetchmail :)
