anyone else get a feeling that reiser4 or raid takes a while to start working?
it seems to take forever to mount a reiser4 partition.
further. in portage, an emerge --search. the command waits about 3 secodns before it gives the progress meter, then completes in 2 seconds...
and just now i leave my computer on overnight and it takes firefox over 20 seconds to start up! |

I've been getting some lag with reiser4 with heavy disk I/O; I don't know whether that's what you're getting. As for emerge search, I'm getting about one second until the spinner, and then another second to finish. (that's for emerge -s gnome). |

there is a well known fix for that. it is a reiser4 issue only applicable if r4 is on the root partition. you need to renice something. i don't know what exactly. if you get any love sources, you see the message when you get the ebuild.
i've moved to xfs. it works well. |
