Sth about my mouse

My mouse is PS/2 with wheel, I got three things that cannot be figured out

1. My mouse can work well under WinXp environment, and it got stuck somtimes under Redhat. Then just hit Ctrl+Alt+Fn, swtiched to the terminal, again switched back to X, it worked again.

2. Under gentoo, I input startX to go to GNOME. When the GNOME initialized, the mouse can work. After completely get to the GNOME, it could not work anymore. Additionally, I could not use the way what I mentioned above under RH to solve this.

3. I just unplugged that mouse and plugged another mouse onto it. It worked again even without rebooting the system.

I am just wondering if any of you had this kind of experience before?
