I'm having a really strange problem with my new Logitech MX310 mouse, Gnome, and xmodmap. The MX310 has thumb buttons that I'd really like to work properly in Linux, and I can get them to work the way I like them to. My problem is that I can't get the button mapping configuration to be saved when I reboot.
Here's my Mouse section in XF86config:
Code: |
Identifier "Mouse1"
Driver "mouse"
Option "CorePointer"
Option "Protocol" "ExplorerPS/2"
Option "Buttons" "7"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "6 7"
Option "Device" "/dev/input/mice"
|
And here's the command I'm using to remap the buttons:
Code: |
xmodmap -e "pointer = 1 2 3 6 7 4 5"
|
Now, I want to save those settings. I've put the xmodmap command in /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc, /etc/X11/gdm/gnomerc, and several other autoexecuting files. I even put it in my Gnome Session Startup Programs settings tab. However, each time I boot the mapping configuration gets overridden to the "1 2 3 4 5 6 7" default, which maps the thumb buttons as the wheel.
Does anyone know how to get the "1 2 3 6 7 4 5" setting to stick?
Thanks,
