I have gotten the 2.6.7-rc1 kernel and set it up on 2 different machienes, both of which had accelerated nvidia graphics on all previous kernels. I have tried emergeing nvidia-kernel and nvidia-glx after I upgraded, and it still does not seem to work, but it will work with the normal nv driver. Anybody have any advice on what I might have done wrong, or anyone else have the same problem?

Don't enable the 4K kernel stacks option.

Ok, so I did an emerge sync and then tried emerging nvidia-kernel and nvidia-glx again. Then I ran a modules-update and and opengl-update nvidia. I also made sure that I had not turned on the 4k stacking. I also changed the driver in my XF86config file to "nvidia" and it still does not work. Anybody see anything that could be wrong with it?

What version of the NVidia kernel driver are you using? 4496 and older won't work, that's almost certain.

Are you using UDEV ? If yes then execute the /sbin/NVmakedevices.sh file before starting X

That's an idea, but it normally shouldn't be necessary - that's what the sysfs patch portage applies is for...

Well I was using 4496, but I'm having problems getting 5336 to work either. When I startx, it gives me an error that says that it failed to insert the nvidia module because it is not a vaild format and then has the filename as (nvidia.ko).
