Spambots registering at phpBB forums (remedy inside)

I notice a lot of these newer spam accounts are using the website name as their name, so can the posts be moved to dupes or just deleted all together?

Spambots are just generating a URL that has all the info in it that PHPBB needs to register a user rather than filling out the form. This shows how to make it so the forum won't register a user unless he/she actually fills out the form.

I'm sure our site admins are aware of this. As to deleting spam posts: We do that, but usually keep one for evidence. Links inside are deleted, and when the spammer's account is subsequently disabled, the registered website and other contact details are getting blanked, too, but that someone could use a tld as a user ID had not occurred to me before. Interesting...

Some people who register to just promote their forum get me as a new user and I start telling them what a great forum they have and I'd like them to visit my favorite forum and link them back to the original spam post.
