/usr/bin/rsync: error while loading sharded libraries: libpopt.so.0: cannot open sharded object file :no such file or directory
this is from the new 1.1a iso and i grep the whole disk for this file it does not exist do anyone know where i cant get this file and what path to install it under ?

You can download it from:
http://www.penguinppc.com/libpopt.tar.gz
Switch to root and untar it at the top level / and it will be installed into the right spot. _________________ ________________________________________

i just got pissed and mounted my old ppc iso and ripped off the old working rsync seems to work fine but if i does bork ill go get the file
and do as you recommended

i'm getting this same error but it on an i386 system and it is while trying to start up samba. any idea? i read it was "A C library for parsing command line parameters" but that didn't really help me figure out what package i should emerge to get it... |

fryfrog: Oi, this is way fricking late, but remerge samba. That should eliminate the libpopt.so dependency. |
