Dopo un emerge sync mi è comparso questo messaggio:
Performing Global Updates: /usr/portage/profiles/updates/2Q-2004

Io non l'ho mai dato e l'update ha sempre funzionato alla perfezione.
Che io ricordi, fixpackages serve per sistemare casini dovuti alla presenza di pacchetti binari. |

Si, credo che serva per ricalcolare l'md5sum e simili di quello che si trova nella directory /usr/portage/packages/All
