I'm not really sure what forum to put this in, but it looks like the gentoo homepage is missing the packages link, and the changelog link among other things. I like watching the changelog to see what people are working on.
Has this been changed on purpose, or did something blow up? |

I also don't see many of the menu items and I've tried under both Windows and Linux. I was use Mozilla 1.1 and 1.2beta on those machines.
Looking at the page source, it looks to me like it's just gone, rather than an HTML bug or something. Does anyone know if this was done intentionally (I highly doubt it) or is the result of some misconfiguration of the content management software perhaps? |

There are a lot of changes afoot WRT the servers that host the various gentoo sites. lists.gentoo.org was recently moved to another server and there are other changes in the works as well. My guess is that the changelog and packages were removed temporarily until things get settled down, at which point they'll be put back up.
Note that is simply my opinion, rather than any sort of official Gentoo statement.

Hmm, I still see both of them, and they both work. There must be more than one gentoo.org server. |

The gentoo web site maintainer seems to be maintaining 2 different home pages for no appearant reason. Going to http://www.gentoo.org will map you to one page with missing top menu links, but just http://gentoo.org maps to a different page with what looks like a complete set of links on top, but the left side menu frame is organized vastly different and missing a few sections that were on the other one. Looks like somebody has something misconfigured on the web server?!? |

ARgh! Sorry about the multiple posts showing up, but every time I tried to post, I would get back a 'posting error' in response. This site is fraught with peril I can see. |

I'm not using anything SPEWS, so I'm guessing klieber's suggestion might be the case. _________________ Quis separabit? Quo animo? |

And some error in your post count. It is zero when you have at least two posts in this page.

Maybe you need to rsync.
|
I did rsync. And with the new autoclean by default I saw sword-1.5.5.ebuild in the list and searching just to see if we had a new sword 1.5.5-r1 (because I know that 1.5.6 isn't out yet ^_~) or something but 1.5.5 was gone and 1.5.4 in its place. |
I've actually noticed autoclean removing ebuilds it just installed in favor of the old version before. Bizarre behavior and makes me think that something's broken. My guess is that this was either a short-lived "takeback" of the ebuild from the portage tree by a developer or else something screwy is going on. The first case should be cured by an rsync or two; the second could be a serious problem. |

Is there any word on when the package list will be back? This is (or was) the only way I know to check USE variables for ebuilds. |

You mean this package list?

Have you tried emerge -v?

Yes! That's the one! Why was it hidden? How'd you find out about it? Is it going to stay current? Is it going to stay at that URL?

Not yet, but I will... thanx for your help.
EDIT: Oh, woops. I guess I didn't read the thread carefully enough. Disregard. |

Errr...it's linked to off the home page. Not sure I'd call that hidden...
Under "resources", on the left side.
