Ok...
I am failry new to this so please bear with me.
What I want to do is put a Linux box between a Network Router
and the Network switch.
The box should have 2 NICs and do nothing more than to
measure the traffic it transfers between the router an the Swicth or
the other way round.
I know I can do it with IPtables (though I never touched them yet)
but if anyone has got any suggestions where I could look for rules or how
this could be done the easiest way (with Gentoo of course) please let me know.
Thanks everyone! _________________ Greetings,

check out http://people.ee.ethz.ch/~oetiker/webtools/mrtg/mrtg.html

Thanks, but what I really need to know is:
-How can I set up a bridge really easy?
-How can I export the total traffic (don't need no fancy pictures, plain numbers would suffice) that passes the bridge?
So, is there any good tutorial out there so I could use Gentoo, or a mini-distro made just for this if it is too hard to implement it myself?
(Please bear with me as I have never before touched IPtables...) _________________ Greetings,
