I've got to install the orinoco patch, it's a .diff file
how do I apply it?

I've never had to do it...i'm sure someone on here can give you the details....but in the meantime, just go to a console and type:
man patch |

I've never had to do it...i'm sure someone on here can give you the details....but in the meantime, just go to a console and type:
man patch |

The solution:
go to /usr/src/linux
and patch -Np1 -i ../filename-version.diff |
