hi. when i log into gnome i get an error with gnome-panel that it is already running.i tried to fix it with the command killall gnome-panel and start it again.that fixed it but there is no menu and icons on the panel.any solution? _________________ Hey.I am new to Linux and i will ask some stupid questions sometimes so please don't get angry with me and help |

Hi,
I had the same problem and I resolve it by deleting the file ~/.gnome2/session (so in my home directory).
If you can access the Gnome Menu, go to Desktop Preferences > Advanced > Sessions, go to "Startup Programs" section and look if there's any gnome-panel command there.

Thanks! You saved me from deleting files etc. I looked in mine and found 2 gnome-panels and simply removed one. All's better |
