Personally I like the service that zoneedit gave me.
They have a script that u can make also thats simple
just type wget and some other syntax and put that on a cronjob and it will update your ip however often you want with just wget. _________________ WTF?? Dude... Visit wtf?? |

You need the "custom=yes" option for a CustomDNS service: Code: | ##
## dyndns.org dynamic addresses
##
## (supports variables: wildcard,mx,backupmx)
##
custom=yes \
server=members.dyndns.org, \
protocol=dyndns2 \
n7down.ath.cx |

I've found that use=web works better than use=if, give it a try. _________________ Search | Read | Answer | Report | Strip |

I use dyndnsupdate. Never had a problem. One thing you need to be careful with is dyndnsupdate won't send an update if your IP hasn't changed. If you don't update the IP within a certain period of time, dyndns.org will drop the registration. Found this out the hard way last weekend. You can force dyndnsupdate to send the request any way. _________________ No guilt in life, no fear in death

yes, you have to be connected directly to the internet. For a host behind a router, having only an IP from the range reserved for a local network (192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x, forgot the 3rd group) it won't work.
