I'm thinking of getting a dual layer burner, probably the NEC ND-2510A.
I take it that burning DVD+/-R (or R/W) is not much of an issue with Linux? If it is, do let me know.
What I'm really curious about is dual layer burning support - has it been done in Linux?
(Any reasons not to buy the drive, or suggestions for alternatives?)

thats a good question... wish i had thought of it before i jumped the gun....
ive been looking for dual layering burning, but i havent found anything yet... but then again, im moving real slow...(yay dialup )
but from what i can tell ive got support for the +-RW and CD-RW for it... which is a step up from windows... i couldnt even burn anything without installing the software that came w/ it first... windows update didnt even have any.... score one for the underdog |

Currently I'm using a NEC 2500a DVD burner with Herries modded DualLayer firmware...
Works fine to burn single layer discs in k3b.
Sadly i have no duallayer media (to damn expensive )
If i can get hold on dual layer media for a resnoable price ill report here. |
