The updated theme is sweet. For those of you who want the official artwork, download the binary release and replace /usr/lib/MozillaFirefox/chrome/icons/default/default.xpm with the one from the binary release.
The about.png and aboutCredits.png are located in /usr/lib/MozillaFirefox/chrome/browser.jar.
Code: | jar -xvf browser.jar | to extract the contents, then replace about.png and aboutCredits.png with the ones from the binary browser.jar.
Code: | jar -cvf browser.jar content | make it a jar file again. |

Binary Ebuild
http://home.comcast.net/~stonent1/mozilla-firefox-0.9.1.tbz2
Built using:
CFLAGS="-march=pentium3 -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer -mfpmath=387,sse -ftracer -fforce-addr"
CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu"
GCC 3.4.0
For 2.6.x kernels
Code: | Aurora tmp # ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge -vp mozilla-firefox
These are the packages that I would merge, in order:
Calculating dependencies ...done!

What reason would hey have to disable that? _________________ Inspiron 4100 & Sun UltraAXe

Yup, it's licensing. You can search the forums for that, there was a discussion somewhere on this issue. Basically Mozilla.org wants its official branding only on their own releases or approved third party builds. But as long as you do not redistribute your own build, you can use the official branding at home. |

I had this problem with Firefox 0.9 and 0.9.1 (source compiled versions):
When I click on "Profile" in the Gentoo Forums, Firefox loads part of the page then freezes helplessly. Those of you running firefox, can you view and use the profile page? _________________ -=Miles Stoudenmire=-

Works fine here, 9.1-bin self installed, not emerged (no ebuild yet, I don't use mozilla-launcher either). |

all works fine here. using 0.9 and 0.9.1 source ebuild. try it with a fresh profile (or just move your .mozilla directory and let firefox create a new one) and see if it still happens. |

A quickie for all you gurus out there. I am running Kahakai on Gentoo and have had the same prob with Firefox 0.8 and 0.9. If i click on a link to an image file Firefox always wants to open the image in an external program or save it to disk. It never just opens the image in a new tab or window which is what i want.
I downloaded the tar.gz file from the Mozilla website and am using that. (Although id be better off emerging it wouldnt I?)
Thanks for any help you can offer. |

Probably stuck in your profile, try running it as a different user. _________________ Inspiron 4100 & Sun UltraAXe

The browser definitely would be more secure if the OS they spoke of running it on was secure.... However, what part of that does it say that MS advises it? I thought it was just that guy writing for Slate. |

Install the Mimetype Editor extension. |

I remember it being listed in the features that ctrl-k will switch the focus over to the google search tab. I could never get this to work in linux it works great on my windoze box at work. Anyone have any ideas on this?. BTW .9.1 rocks. I just wish they would make it so when you bookmark it defaults to the bookmarks folder instead of the bookmark toolbar folder.

Odd. For me it defaults to the last folder I bookmarked something into. |

I've a problem with Firefox since I switched from 0.8 to 0.9.1
Screenshot
When I select a menu entry, the background becomes white and the font disappears (instead that the background remains gray and the font remains black).
Haven't found anything in the forums or bugzilla so far |

I hope this hasn't been covered yet, and if it has I'm sorry for the repeat.
UT2k4 locked up my system this evening, and after restarting, Firefox will not load under my user account. The output I get is:
Code: | fourwood@fourwood fourwood $ firefox
/usr/lib/MozillaFirefox/mozilla-xremote-client: Error: Failed to find a running server.
No running windows found | and then it just hangs there. If I ^C it, the firefox-bin process stays around.
The browser runs as root, but not with my user account. I've tried wiping my profile, unmerging and removing the install directory and rebuilding the browser again, but to no avail.
Edit: Well, this morning it works. So.. whatever. |

Just thought I'd give you all a heads up, I've created a post on Firefox Customizing / Hacking / etc.. (Extensions, Themes, userChrome.css, userContent.css, user.js, a couple of more advanced things too, like menu hacking)
Here is where you can find the post
