im always a special case,kernel not compiling

i would first like to say thanks to all whoery have helped me before but now i got a big one. tried to update the kernel and when i went to compile regularly and wit genkernel and it failed everytime and then when i went to reinstall i couldnt cuz my dsl would not work, and that was also the problem inside of the environment need help if i wanna stay wit gentoo

You do realize you have to post some of the error you are getting before anyone can have a clue of what you are talking about?

yeah i realized that but I couldn't at that point and time, i was using my Zaurus PDA to make the post and my comp was completely incapacitated, i ended up having to reinstall totally, and goin to try to update the kernel again soon so if it doesn't work again, i will surely try to post the output

okay I have updated the kernel to 2.6.7-r7 but my nvidia won't work, keeps saying that nvidia.ko is not a valid module whenever it tries to load up gdm, i have tried recompiling the kernel and nvidia many times to no avail need help please, oh and also i am now having a problem with my sound that i can't fix, if i use oss sound system as support in the kernel then i am okay but using only oss no alsa whatsoever, problem with that is that i can't use midi's, I had alsa working at first then all of a sudden, no sound at all, tried remerging the driver, check the /etc/modules.d/alsa file and it looked fine, so i am utterly befuddled, and i tried to emerge timidity to try to use midi's still, didn't work either, always has a compile error
