I have a Apollo 715-80 with 2 SCSI disks and a SCSI DAT tape, currently running HP-UX 9. Unfortunately, no CD-Rom. Is there a means of booting Gentoo from tape? The tape drive is scanned during a search for bootable devices, and the HP-UX installation media is on tape, so the machine will boot from the tape drive.

Once you are installed you should be able to boot from tape according to the PALO documentation at http://www.pateam.org/. I'm not sure how you would get the installation CD to boot though unless you can repakage the CD on the tape or perhaps do a network boot with root NFS. |
