Hi!
I had installed Gentoo some weeks ago, and the keyboard was already setup nice (in Portuguese)... but somehow the configuration is gone, and my keyboard doesnt work as it should... i tried to edit /etc/rc.conf, changing the keymap, but not one of the keymaps I tested worked...
Besides my X configurations is f**ked up too, and I dont know why... (im using xorg) I want to understand WHERE do I configure X and WHERE do I configure the system in general...
Also my thunderbird doesnt work in portuguese now, it doesnt display some caracters correcly... and the filters doesnt work because of that... anyway, im completly lost about those language issues... PLEASE, someone explain whats going on... Why is my settings gone... |

Sounds like a uppdate remove your language settings. Be careful with etc-update.
Keyboard:
use loadkeys to find your keyboard in /usr/share/keymaps
X: use
Xorg -configure
generic config file
X.org use /etc/X11/xorg.conf
see http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/xorg-config.xml for more details
In general config files are in /etc
For language settings when adding programs add LINGUAS="???" to make.conf |
