hey, I have a problem loading the kernel, it's something with vesa frame buffer, but I don't really know what it is

when loading somethng like this appears and it stops, and freezes

Code:
<6>note Vesafb[27] exited with preempt_count2

Should I try 8kb kernel stackings? or that has nothing to do with it?
I have an nVidia RIVA TNT 2
Please, help

I am on pentium 3 700 mghz

Don't use the framebuffer with NVidia cards. See here.
Additionally, a hint: I'd avoid CONFIG_PREEMPT if I were you. It hurts more than it helps.

Uhhh, just to correct your post, there is nothing wrong with using framebuffer with nvidia cards, my geforce 4 gets along quite nicely with framebuffer.

Oh... Haven't heard many success stories with mm-patchset based kernels and vesafb/rivafb on NVidia cards, so I thought I'd blanket them...

The new vesafb-tng patch takes care of it, works flawlessly.

vesa tng doesn't work for me at all (I have a laptop LCD where the pixel clock must be 96.21Mhz). There are no option to set the pixel clock correctly in vesa-tng.

Moreover, even if you ask for respecting usual vbemode, it decides to choose its default, so the screen become unuseable.

I firmly advice NOT to USE VESA-TNG if you have a laptop (or a LCD screen)
