easy question

i just got a short question,
am using gentoo- is it nescassary to use samba if i wanna use the internet from an other network computer or do i just have to define the gateway for the client

samba is not needed if you are going to leech the connection from another computer. Just use dhcpcd eth0 in your /etc/conf.d/net file. This will automatically get the IP for you.
