Install through firewall

After some hassle I found a way for installing gentoo behind a firewall. Unfortunately, the one described in the FAQ did not work for me.
If anyone is interested, I could write a summary!?

I really don't have the time *now* for polishing the Install Instructions on that; but at least here are some brief hints:
1. It seems something wrong with /etc/make.conf
so don't follow the advice in 3. in faq
2. It's actually easier even with a stage1 CDROM to use the latest portage from behind a firewall:
3. After Code listing 17 insert a Code listing 17a:
# ping www.yahoo.com (at least it must be resolved!!)
# export http_proxy=http://100.100.100.100:8080 (or whatever)
# cd /usr
# wget http://www.ibiblio.org/gentoo/snapshots/portage-2002MMDD.tar.bz2
(MM=month, DD=day)
# tar xvjf portage-2002MMDD.tar.bz2
4. Skip Code listing 18
