|
|
I'm in the process of configuring the kernel (development-sources, 2.6.7) and am not done installing Gentoo from the 2004.0 CD.
I am at http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook-x86.xml?part=1&chap=7#kernel_modules, Section 7e.
I emerged emu10k1 and got the following error:
!!! ERROR: media-sound/emu10k1-0.20a-r5 failed.
!!! Function pkg_setup, line 26, Exitcode1
!!! This module is only compatible with 2.4.x kernels

Why don't you use the emu10k1 module provided by alsa, in the kernel ? |

Yeah, because ALSA is included in the 2.6 kernel series. It's in Device Drivers -> Sound -> Advanced Linux Sound Architecture. |

Since I did include that in make menuconfig, does this mean that I don't have to do this step? _________________ Clue-less |

That's right, if you set it in your kernel, then you're done. |
