|
|
Hi,
I've a system with an Pentium4 2,4 GHz here.
/proc/cpuinfo lists in the features the ht-flag, so I think this CPU supports HyperThreading.
SMP and HyperThreading-Support is in the kernel, but /proc/cpuinfo lists just one CPU.
I thought this have to be two, if HyperThreading works.
Benchmarks are a bit on the slow side for this system.
Any idea what the problem might be? _________________ Just unused Microsoft-Software is good Microsoft-Software |

you might have one of the 'old style' P-4 which actually can't HT, mine for example, afaik depends on a higher stepping number than mine.
processor : 0
vendor_id : GenuineIntel
cpu family : 15
model : 2
model name : Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.40GHz
stepping : 7
...
flags : fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 clflush dts acpi mmx fxsr sse sse2 ss ht tm pbe cid _________________ Nothing is secure / Security is always a trade-off with usability / Do not assume anything / Trust no-one, nothing / Paranoia is your friend / Think for yourself |

Mines a stepping 9 and has HT, but as a good check, if it has 800MHz FSB it has HT also
'cept the 3.06GHz with 533MHz FSB but the only one from that FSB set to have HT

This one has stepping 4.
I'm now taking SMP-Support out of the kernel, unneeded overhead. _________________ Just unused Microsoft-Software is good Microsoft-Software |
