nope i did not need to remove anything from the sources to get it to compile, i patched it cleanly and properly and it worked first try.

And if any of you have any other experiences outside of nvida-kernel locking up X i suggest disabling ACPI in the kernel. (Power Management).

what is the diffence between the rc4-love2 and the rc2-love3??

i'm assuming that love3 is more mature or something? whats the deal?

Anyway, since 2.6.8 is out, there´s a lot of work for you guys ;-)

I´ve just managed to fix the hunks from 2.6.8-rc4-mm1 with kernel 2.6.8, but applying latest love to that gives me too much errors :-)

We use whats fastest at the moment, as soon as np is faster again we will use it again.

I am also getting kernel OOPs when it remounts my reiser 4 filesystem in init. it is segfaulting while triing to run checkfs.

I have large keys enabled, tried turning them off, but... that dosn't work because the filesystem is then binary incompatible.
Any insights?

We've been trying to pinpoinbt this checkfs problem to the point of start but we don't know what's causing the segfault. I will continue searching for a solution to this problem.

I have not had a working love since 2.6.6-r4, but havent had a chance to track anything down (I think most of it is relating to SMP)

I can confirm thought at just 2.6.8_rc4-mm1 w/ reiser4 added work for me

is there a way to get access to a broken out patch to save on some time, and possibly help pinpoint what has been casing my problems.

would those providers of patches be so kind to ALWAYS write down what the patch is based on (ALL STAGES!) - example:

linux-2.6.7
patch-2.6.8 (or is it 2.6.8.1 !? because w/ 2.6.8 the love patch doesn't work)
patch-xyz (which one?)

I download the love file from SF, i take it from its size it is a kernel patch?

If it is a patch what kernel does it patch?

How do i apply patch as it is compressed file?

it patches against mm, and it is always the 2.6.x-mm or 2.6.x_rcx-mm, the name tells all.

for instance this version:
2.6.8_rc4-love2

2.6.8_rc4 patched with
2.6.8_rc4-mm1
(this one is different than usual, but not that hard to deduce. under normal circumstances that would probibley be mm2, but it is not there, and it was explained in the thread)

then the love patch

good luck..

if you are using gentoo, you could just grab the ebuild, and not worry about it :wink:

oops, my bad, I must have been working 16 hr days for the last 2 weeks, and not been on top of love (and the switch away from mm).

I know what kernel I'm using, and it is not love

, because everything after 2.6.6-love4 has not played nice with SMP (at least on my box)

I notice that this love is listed as based on 2.6.7_rc4, but the title of the thread is 2.6.8_rc4-love2, and looking at kernel.org, I find a 2.6.7_rc3, and a 2.6.8_rc4. So what kernel are you using?

No noobism committed. The makefile for the latest love still have the EXTRAVERSION string set for the previous (testing only) version.

It's an easy thing to overlook in the release process, it seems.

If it's causing problems, edit the makefile and then rebuild.
