any good file managers out there?

okay, i've been on kde for a while now and would like to switch to blackbox, as i'm already used to it from windows. now my only worry is that i need a decent file-manager, so i'd like to know if there are any out there that behave like total commander in windows (graphical norton commander clone, like mc on linux), what i'm not interested in is a console tool or an overblown hybrid like konqueror

There are two: Gentoo (no, not the distribution) and Rox-filer. Both can be extensivley customized.

Yeah. I use Gentoo. It is OK, but actually not really satisfactory.
I used to use Endeavour but it was completely useless.

they both look promising(tho high in need of cutomizing before they can be used properly ^^) but i have a question, as i can't test them now, can any of them be configured so i can select single files by rightclicking on them or multiple files by rightclicking and dragging?

well... it's not the 'gentoo-way' but you can download http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/tuxcmd/tuxcmd-dev-0.5.39-bin.tar.bz2?download

no ebuild needed, afair it's just one binary file.

i once browsed the gentoo-fresh-ebuilds-page ( http://packages.gentoo.org/categories/ ) and found XNC. It´s like the old Norton-Commander with many features and VERY fast.

Is there a decent file manager that can do video thumbnailing, aside from Nautilus and Konqueror? I'm getting fed up with Nautilus, but need video thumbnailing to deal with the amount of video files I have around.

I usually just use mc but a while ago tuxcmd was good enough for me.
