I am at a loss of ideas of why this may be happening. I cannot think of an even that would have caused this. I just couldn't connect one day while I was on my windows partition.
I tried pinging my router and got "destination host unreachable." It's funny because I can connect fine in linux. I thought maybe I had a virus, so I reformatted my windows partition and re-installed both windows 2000 and Windows XP. Still; no solution.
I pinged my eth (127.0.0.1) and responses are fine. Drivers are installed for the eth adapter the network connection is the same as it used to be. It seems to be sending packets, but not recieving.
If anyone has any ideas or suggestions to help me with this problem, i'd appreciate it. Thank you. _________________ "Life is not about finding yourself, it's about creating yourself..." |

do you have the internal windows firewall active? if so, disable it. maybe disabling virus scanner (temporary) and other firewall stuff you may have, could help.
cheers

My configuration was working one day and not the next, so I don't think that would be the issue since i didn't enable a firewall within that time. I was running win2k and don't think it had a build in firewall active. _________________ "Life is not about finding yourself, it's about creating yourself..." |

If you get destination host unreachable, it would suggest that you have a problem with your network setup. Either an incorrect IP address, subnet mask or default gateway.
Check the ouput of
ipconfig /all
and
route print
to make sure everything is OK.
The address of your ethernet adaptor is never 127.0.0.1 this is a different interface used for local loopback, in linux it's called lo.
Make sure that your network cable is showing an acitve link and that it is not disabled. |

Ok, I have finally gotten it to work. I had to go into the advanced TCP/IP properties and select "Use NetBIOS setting from the DHCP server. I also had to imput my ip information statically. It is really strange that this happened, but I'm glad I've finally gotten it to work. Thanks for the help. _________________ "Life is not about finding yourself, it's about creating yourself..." |
