|
|
Hi, well I am not too sure what to do, I followed a bunch of crazy guides, including the one from Gentoo on how to get ALSA set up, although I am not too sure if it was really applicable. Anyway here is my current situation.
I have a SoundBlaster Live! Value Card along with a 4.1 Sound System.
The sound was faint when I first installed Gentoo, and it only came out of the two front channels. So I asked for help about ALSA and eventually ended up installing it following the guide provided by Gentoo. Now my sound sounds like shit, pardon the language. It's distorted, mono-rific, and is still coming out of the front two channels.. Any suggestions? |

What would be an alternative to ALSA? |

What guide did you follow? This is either a really bad guide or failing hardware, and I'm not betting on either this time. _________________ Note: This user has been arrested under the DMCA for copyright infringement based on a complaint from The Inernational Cliche Company. I am not sure what you mean by failing hardware, but the system works fine, actually exceptional, in windows. No problems, not a single hitch.
The guide I was using is provided by Gentoo: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/alsa-guide.xml
However, the guide does not cover how to properly configure 4.1 sound, which maybe the problem all in its own. |
