is it me or is cdwriting broken,
its been broken in last love and mm sources of 2.6.9 series
I use ATAPI writing not scsi emulation
It works on 2.6.8-rc2-love3 |

Yup, they supposedly increased security by blocking certain potentially dangerous commands necessary for cd burning, or so I am told.
PS: I think it was requested before, but I would really like to see swsusp2 in love. I'm getty some strange rejects and I'm really not too good at solving them  . I tried some other kernels, but I soon returned to love (especially when nitro trashed my reiser4...). |

for all usb problems, try this and return to me please :

for now usb works for me without reversing anything, its just weird.. but then i only use a usb modem and bluetooth dongle.

the problem is swsup2 is almost impossible with -mm (love is based on -mm).
i'll give it another go but i can't promise, last time i tried it really looked way outta my league.

Thanks, doesn't get in cleanly, but I'm compiling
BTW, As I stated in the previous topic page, I cannot compile this love with the software-suspend-2.0.0.105-for-2.6.9 patch
However I see they made a software-suspend patch for the -mm2 of 2.6.8, so I hope they do the same when 2.6.9 will be released

OneOfOne: yeah, I know what you mean. One of the files looked totally different than it was supposed to. Anyways, if it's not fixable, it's not much of a problem. Love is still my favourite kernel  . |

#Edit: Answered my own question.
Ok, the command worked like a charm, once I got all the other issues worked out. And my computer is just screaming along. I've never seen mozilla open so fast. Thanks for the help. |

I am getting a Kernel oops when reading from my CDROM drive.
This is a patch which supposedly fixes that:

haven't tested this yet, as I need my box to stay up for a while right now.
Funny thing about this oops is I have onhly been able to trigger it when reading from my CDROM, not with the DVD or burner. *shrugs*

this is what's in dmesg.. usb fails sometimes to load in -love2 but not in any other 2.6.9-xx.xx kernel

Question... I've make modules module_install bzImage'd it, went to arch/x86/boot/bzImage, and... Hey! Wait a second! There is no arch/x86! Do I just use x86_64?

Nigel, the suspend2 developer is releasing -mm versions of his patches for some time now, so maybe the situation has improved.

Thank you very much for that informative piece OneOfOne, I am now typing this in my GNOME desktop using my fglrx driver, yay! I was flipping out earlier, couldn't figure out why my mm kernel (Which I use because I have reiser4 and I generally have liked mm-sources for a long while now) seemed to give me pci problems with fglrx. It's all good now though, and Enemy Territory runs nicely, UT2k4 is still... bleh, I can't believe how bad it runs.

| Ok, back again with another problem. Lately I've noticed that if my computer is left on for a period of time (read: 9+) it becomes exceeding slow, like windows with 12 apps open slow. I did not notice this when I was running gentoo-dev-sources, but I can't be quite sure when it started seeing as how it is time dependant and I generally turn my computer off a night. So, I basically don't know whether this is a kernel problem or not. My quesiton is, how can I isolate whether this is an issue with love-sources or a memory leak with some program. Logging out and back in does not fix the problem, and none of my tinkering has seemed to fix it, but having to reboot a linux box for this reason means something is defiantely wrong. If it isn't the kernel I'll get help in another thread. Any ideas would be great, and I'll post any information that might be useful, I'm way out of my league here so I could use some help. Thanks |
