I have Gentoo 1.4rc1, KDE 3.1rc5, Mozilla 1.01rc3, and Galeon 1.2.6. I can run Galeon as root but not as a user. I tried following the instructions at http://galeon.sourceforge.net/support/answers.php?faq=gconf but nothing in there helped. Here is the error I'm getting when I try to run it as a user:
Code: |
GConf Error: Failed to contact configuration server (a likely cause of this is that you have an existing configuration server (gconfd) running, but it isn't reachable from here - if you're logged in from two machines at once, you may need to enable TCP networking for ORBit)

Ok, I fixed it. I didn't realize that I had a .gconf and .gconfd directory in my home directory but then I also found out that those directorys were locked out to anybody but root which made it clear to me why it wouldn't work. Once I deleted those directorys it opened just fine. |
