Hi, I am using kde3.3 -arts,
I have emerged xine, I don't want to use gstreamer, since I am a kde guy, I am not going to bloat all the gnome things.
Some posts in this forum says the xine-engine works. But I could not emerge amarok, the error is :

| Why not use gstreamer? I works flawlessly in KDE and it will perhaps be the state-of-the-art soundmixer in future KDE versions. |

emerge gstreamer,
emerge amarok,
still fail.
Anyway, switch to yammi with xmms.

Did you put gstreamer, xine, arts, "whatever" in your USE flags before emerging?
Like so?

emerge -pv amarok will show available USE flags. |

| By the way, I don't believe Gstreamer is Gnome-specific. |
