|
|
Hi all,
I seem to lose a lot of important contacts, hence I want to clean up my contact list and put in in a nice "database". I have a Microsoft Outlook account at school, but it seems does not use a standard format backend so that I can transfer the database for using by other address book or PIN programs. Second, it does not store in my local computer, and I cannot easierly check it while I am in Linux like now.
So I am looking for a Address Book program, which store the data in some "standard" -industrial recognized- format, so that I can easierly import and export to other programs. For instance, if I by a new handphone, I can load the contact database to it, since the format is recognized by the phone.
So basically my questions are:
- Is the standard format for storing contact information, I am quite sure that there is one for the calander?
- Do you know any program using that standard?
Thanks a lot!

No, it doesn't - only evil demons know what's inside the .PST files.
But you can export all contacts in one go to a CSV file, and go from that. _________________ >>> emerge (3 of 7) mcse/70-293 to /

If you are using Outlook (and not Outlook Express) I recommend exporting your contact list (and reminders, email, etc..) in a simple format... I generally back that up unstead of the bloated PST file.
You can import that back into outlook later if you want.
I would also like good contact software for Linux. Thunderbird just isn't good enough in that area.
