Thats not a bad idea either but would the devs go for it?

No.

Bugger.

Well, I still like the idea of 'starbox' or something similar for a domain name.

Why not just ask for the section to be created, instead of launching yet another theme site ?

Because we could do what we please with the site and I doubt freshmeat or themedepot would put up openbox scripts

I think it's worth trying. Yet another theme site is a waste of ressources and time if you ask me. We already have themedepot, themes.freshmeat.net, gnome-look, kde-look, art.gnome.org, etc...

Well it certainly can't hurt anything and besides openbox resources are scattered all over the place its quite a pain to locate what your looking for. Besides I always see people asking the same questions about fluxbox and openbox how do you do this, how do you do that, how do you setup torsmo, how do you set up your .xdefaults etc etc. We will have howtos and example setups for all these faqs. Its also rare I find something I like at freshmeat and themedepot I usually just rip apart and theme how I see fit

For example, where can I find a downloadable copy of the FallWithMe theme, dioxmat?

I never submitted it anywhere because it was merely a 5 minutes job based on others work [*]. Also, it's both a gtk and an openbox theme :-)

I'd really like to have a "standard", reliable place to download openbox themes. But it would be even better imho to have a standard place to download just about any kind of theme. When you are looking for a theme, you might want a matching gtk theme, you might want to look at other wm's themes for inspiration, etc. And let's not forget the most important part: simplicity. The less sites, the most simple it is ;)

[*] Ok, I admit it, I did post it somewhere on my site, but it was requested by forum users :)

I was thinking about the idea of adding gtk2 themes myself but I don't know how many people here make there own gtk2 themes I know I don't as far as gnome and kde they already have gnome-look and kde-look as someone stated earlier, maybe we can have a screenshots section for inspiration?

Alright init says we needed to get everything ready by eod friday so he can start working on this so does anyone want to add anything to the content? and what about the name?

Content as of now:

-Fluxbox Styles
-Openbox Styles
-Openbox Scripts
-Wallpaper
-Howtos
-Links

Possible content additions?

-gtk2 themes
-xmms/bmp themes
-screenshots

Please post any suggestions I may have missed and whether or not the last 3 should be added to the content. And have we decided on a name yet, I've seen a few floating around so what one should we use?

Add these:

torsmo configs
FVWM configs
zsh configs
bash configs

Considering how many terminal junkies use Gentoo, I'm surprised I had to mention the last two.

Why dont we make just a openbox-related site? There is a good fluxbox-site already out there: ikaro.dk :? , but there is no openbox-site.

Ok folks,

I will get started today after work maybe, if not tomorrow. I will shoot for is being ready on sunday for users to begin uploading and filling with content. I will add all the content items I see above in the posts, if they are empty oh well we can add stuff to them down the rizoad ;)

Note:
This means we will need a DN (i still like splatbox :D but am mutual ) by sunday morn EST. (or around than so we can go 'live')
Once we get that will someone gimp up a logo / header for the page. I will post the size later.
Is everyone cool with the gray look the page had, if not give me some other color recomendations. (this of course can be changed at any-time also)

OtherNotes:
If so desired I will set up active contributing users with an email@ourdomain (smtp - imap)
If theme creators would like access to a versioning system to store and work on there themes from I will provided you with access to one. (or sometime down the road if we start a 'bigger' project it may be nice to have..)
