I have a Canon S200 printer, which is supported in the latest gimp-print drivers. The printer is connected to a Linksys PSUS4 printer server, which makes it accessible by means of ipp or lpd. I configured CUPS and i can print to it over ipp. The problem is that whenever i send it something to print, it will print the document multiple times till i power off the printer.
Anyone has any idea what's causing this and how i can fix it ? |

I have the same problem with this printserver and have just sent an email to the support of linksys with this links.
It should be possible for them to correct this bug in their firmware.
Hm, if just every firmware would be opensource, one could try to correct this sort of problems oneself.
For the moment I have configured my linux-box to use this printserver with lpd. Problem is that with lpd, printing is very very very slow. If I use lpd with a windows machine it prints normally with no slow down.
Could one maybe speed up lpd in linux with psus4? |

Hmmm... when i tried it with LPD, it just didn't print anything at all (or maybe i didn't wait long enough....). Then i tried it with "Hp JetDirect" (socket://address/USB1 in CUPS), this worked fine for a couple of prints.. Now however, it always stops printing when about 75% of a page is done, and my guess is that then the print server crashes, because it doesn't react on pings anymore and also i can't access the webbase interface any longer. It works again when i power cycle it.
I really hope they will make a firmware upgrade which solves this. |

Maybe if as many people as possible would send them en email they would react more quickly 
As for lpd, this should work. I will look tomorrow at work how I did the configuration and post it here. Haven't yet tried out "Hp JetDirect". |

So this is how I did the configuration for lpd under cups with psus4:
lpd://192.168.0.10/PS-BIOINFO
"192.168.0.10" is the IP of the printserver
"PS-BIOINFO" is the "PSUS4 Device Name" you can find in the web-adminstration of the device under setup. |

I found the problem, which is not in relation with lpd but with the printer driver:
First I did choose the "HP LaserJet Series PCL 6 Cups v1.1 (en)" driver and is was very slow. Now I tried out the "HP LaserJet Series Cups v1.1 (en)" and the printing is now at normal speed  |
