Any success stories for Tribes Vengance with wine/cedega? I _really_ won't to get this game, but only if I can get it to run in Linux. So if anyone has gotten any progress with this game in linux, please share. _________________ I wish hell would freeze over already.
EDIT: w00t, it has! |

The demo doesn't work for me, but i use an old cvsWineX thaht doesn't support DX9 (tribesV is DX9 isn't it??)
I'll try with an up to date cvscedega |

Lastest cvscedega fails on the installer because of "stdole32.tdl"
so a friend send me this file (from XP but it worked) and i successfully installed the demo.
The game doesn't load because it needs to write is TV.exe's folder, it's related to:
Now i'm compiling normal wine with the patch from this link.

something to note is that bug is for the dedicated server not the game client.
From the first line of the bug report...
Quote: | While testing the beta Tribes: Vengeance dedicated server, I found that it tests |
As for the demo, I can't get it to install. Get a strange error about unable to create InstallDevice or some crap like it from the installer.
Is there a way around it without a microsoft file?
EDIT: full error from installshield
Code: | 1608: Unable to create InstallDriver instance,
Return code: -2147024894 |
Hit ok and it exits.

There's the same bug this the client and the patch solves it: now i got the game's spash screen but then, it fails...
For the installer, i really don't if there's a way without MS file, this file just solved my problem so easily that i didn't look further |
