Hi, with the following I get to log in fine the only issue is that I get a grey screen with x cursor in the middle for around 10-15 seconds at log in before kde starts, everything is correct in /etc/rc.conf, I have the following config
Kernel 2.6.9-r1
xorg 6.7
ati-drivers (with 3d working fine)
I get the following in dmesg
Fire GL built-in AGP-support

What Display Manager are you using? xdm, kdm, gdm? Check your /etc/rc.conf and look for DISPLAYMANAGER. _________________ "Debugging is twice as hard as writing the code in the first place. ok, I think it may be a kde issue, I took off the auto log in feature in kde and get the user and root log in splash screen, then when logging in it hangs for around 10 seconds, I must have updated a config file somewhere but not sure which one? _________________ iain |

another thought, whenever I recompile my kernel, (just changed from vesfb-tng to vesafb it reboots no worries, then it changes back on second reboot with hang and then when rebooting there is a hang with lots of garbage on the screen (lines) is there some file where settings are saved to? _________________ iain |

Garbage? What kind of garbage exactly? Actual text or unreadable graphics glitch?
Cheers,

I have read some where about 4k stacks in the kernel with 6.8 and 6.9 kernels. Do you think this may be the issue _________________ iain |
