I am looking around to find a laptop with no operating system on it because I would like to instlal Gentoo on it myself. I've tried Google, but I did not find anything helpful. Does anybody have any info on where to get one?

Can companies actually get away with selling machines with no OS these days? I though MS had them screwed down so they had to charge for their products irresepctive of whether or not they actually shipped with them or not?

Typically companies get discounts if they sell lots of MS products; they also get discounts if they don't sell any competing products. Hence Dell get Windows for much less than the standard price.
So companies like that are screwed down by MS, yes, but a lot of others just accept the higher Windows price and do the right thing. |

Empororlinux provides linux laptops, which could be a plus. http://www.emperorlinux.com/
However, it's only Debian, Slackware mandrake or a RH based custom distro.
