If I try to emerge vim it fails on libtermcap-compat. If I try to emerge libtermcap, I get:

Code:

>>> emerge (1 of 1) sys-libs/libtermcap-compat-2.0.8-r1 to /
>>> md5 src_uri ;-) termtypes.tc.gz
>>> md5 src_uri ;-) termcap-2.0.8.tar.bz2

  File "/usr/bin/emerge", line 1839, in merge
    retval=portage.doebuild(y,"merge",myroot,self.pkgsettings,edebug)
  File "/usr/lib/portage/pym/portage.py", line 2562, in doebuild

    os.chdir(srcroot)
OSError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/var/tmp/portage/libtermcap-compat-2.0.8-r1/image/'

I just barely installed OSX yesterday, and Gentoo-OSX today. I updated ot the newest portage and synced, and changed make.conf to say ppc-macos instead of macos, and that's it.

Is libtermcap-compat really needed? Anyone else get vim to emerge?

Thanks,
Michael

I have almost the identical problem. Trying to play with Gentoo on my powerbook. Installed, updated to latest portage, emerge sync and now eveything emerge fails like this;
Code:

Peter-Computer:/Users/peter root# emerge nano
Calculating dependencies ...done!
>>> emerge (1 of 1) app-editors/nano-1.3.4 to /
>>> md5 src_uri ;-) nano-1.3.4.tar.gz

Yeah, I ended up getting the same problem with links, and nano when I tried to install those too. Some folder/file missing.

I haven't actually been able to get anything to emerge yet. :-o

There's a line in http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/macos-guide.xml#doc_chap2 that says;

You should not yet try to emerge portage from the ebuilds.

So I tried unistalling and reinstalling. Now it works OK. Funny thing is if you do an

emerge --pretend portage
it thinks it's not installed.

Not sure I understand what's going on, but I'm going to experiment some more, and definitely not going to emerge portage.
