My console is not showing any host information (like will@tux root#) it's just showing bash-2.05b#, and also I get the following error when I try to run emacs to edit a file.... I had things working fine a little while ago.. not sure what happened..
Code: |
bash-2.05b# emacs /etc/X11/xorg.conf
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified
emacs: Cannot connect to X server :0.0.
Check the DISPLAY environment variable or use `-d'.
Also use the `xhost' program to verify that it is set to permit
connections from your machine |

Ok, I've narrowed down the source of this issue a little bit...
It all came about when i enabled graphical login for my user accounts....
If I don't use graphical login, and i run startx myself I can see the hostname, and i can run any program that i should be able to like normal....
Any ideas, anyone?
Thanks _________________ Cheers,
