Je suis en train de réinstaller (encore une fois) ma pitite gentoo et cette foie, plutôt que d'installer gnome j'ai voulu mettre fluxbox.
J'ai fait un emerge fluxbox qui s'est terminer en un rien de temps mais je ne parvient pas à le lancer, ni directement depuis startx en mettant XSESSION="Fluxbox" ni en passant par gdm.
Voila le message d'erreur :

c'est pas XSESSION qu'il faut changer, tu peux lgarder cette ligne commenter mais ton ~/.xinitrc qu'il faut éditer et mettre fluxbox dedans

oui mais si tu l'as pas tu le crées, et hop un petit startx plus tard ... un nouveau monsieur sus flux 
@ bosozoku: c'est trop long à écrire le exec blabla et ça marche avec juste fluxbox alors...

On est d'accord que le startx est à faire en mode texte et pas si tu as gnome de démarré hein ?
Parce que ton xsession-error montre des trucs qui parlent de gdm. La en aucun cas on à besoin de gdm. Si gdm est démarré automatiquement : (en root).
Maintenant que tu es en mode texte, tu te loggue normalement et tu fais startx
Si ça ne marche pas :

startx |
Si ça marche toujours pas, donne le message d'erreur exact.

Oui normalement, ça doit suffire si tu met simplement fluxbox dans ton ~/.xinitrc
à savoir:

ou
et tu ajoutes simplement: fluxbox |

Il suffisait de mettre "fluxbox" dans le .xinitrc et pas /usr/bin/startfluxbox.
Va faloir que je test ça maintenant, et que je donne vie au truc parceque là, c'est vraiment mort

ok bah alors remplace fluxbox par startfluxbox dans ton .xinitrc.
Ca te permet d'utiliser le fichier startup, c'est toujours mieux

Dans la mesure où startfluxbox m'affiche le splendide message d'erreur, je suppose le problème vient du startup justement.
D'ailleur, il sert à quoi ce faleux startup qui me casse les pieds? C'est ci utile que ça (il m'en faut pas baucoup pour que ça le soit) où bien je peu m'en passer et ne pas tenter de résoudre le problème ?

En gros ce fichier te permet de définir un wallpaper facilement sans respecter la syntaxe du fichier init. Mais le mieux est qu'il permet de démarrer des applis au démarrage de fluxbox.

pourquoi moi j'ai fluxbox dans mon .xinitrc et voilà.
et j'ai mon fichier startup perso que je fais appeler au démarrage de fluxbox, il appelle même un script perl pour la rotation des wallpapers.
C'est donc pas une obligation d'avoir startfluxbox.
si tu le mets pas, tu peux quand même utiliser un script d'initialisation, il suffit de mettre

C'est startfluxbox qui génère le fichier startup.
Quand je démarre fluxbox avec /usr/bin/fluxbox, le startup n'est pas pris en compte.
startfluxbox est un script qui démarre fluxbox justement.

Je l'ai déja dis, il génère le fichier startup et l'utilise. Startup est un script d'initialisation qui te permet de démarrer des apps puis il démarre fluxbox par /usr/bin.fluxbox justement.
mais comme l'a dis sireyessire, tu peux t'en passer en indiquand le chemin d'un te script dans le fichier init.
