Trying to boot off the 1.1a iso and then wget the 1.4_rc2 tarball, wget responds with "connection refused." I can ping the ibiblio ip fine, but I keep getting that error. Also, I've tried other mirrors with the same response. |

I couldn't use the FQDN since DNS/resolv.conf wasn't setup, so I was using IP.
I gave up and ftp'ed the tarball off another machine on my network.
Thanks anyway,

I am not able to connect to ibiblio.org since weeks, although I can traceroute the machine without problems. It always times out. It doesn't respond to pings here too. |

Maybe the server is only answering calls to "www.ibiblio.org" and not to the bounded IP.
That's a reason to send ibiblio a mail, asking if they wouldn't set the server to allow connections addressing the IP, and not the FQDN.
That is, if my ideia is correct.

I was able to connect directly using this IP: 152.2.210.81 to get the stage 1 tarball off the site, so I don't think you have to resolve the url just to access the site. |
