these modules used to load automatically for me WITHOUT the need to specify them in /etc/modules.autoload/kernel-2.6
e1000
ipw2100
ehci_hcd
...
i think hotplug handled that.
after a whole lot of package updates, which includes the kernel (not sure abt hotplug, but i re-emerged anyway to see if that's the problem) these modules needed to be manually loaded...
any explanation? |

the loading of modules for hadware initialised at boot is now handled by coldplug. if you want thos modules loaded automatically you'll need to emerge that. |

I've just read about coldplug on the gentoo news...
but still, coldplug doesn't load acpi modules? |
