i'm just making some tar.bz2 out of the cvs tree like ecore-1.0.0.20041128.tar.bz2, put them in distfiles rename the "old" ecore-1.0.0.20041031.ebuild to the name of the tar.bz2, put them in my overlay && emerge them... works fine till now
now lets see... if i break everything *lol*
[edit]
hrhr, without the ebuilds i had the same compile errors like postet bevore...
now usin' the ebuild-way there was no problem updating imlib2, eet, edb, evas, ecore, epeg, epsilon, embryo, edje, etox & ewl (in exactly that order)
i think (and HOPE) some more screenshots from e17 aren't far |

I just built e from cvs. I have no menu. Is there a script someplace that will generate it? _________________ It's Floam, it's Floam. It's flying foam! |

mine compiled just fine.
however even making icons in the iconbar or menu thing looks like a pain in the arse/ass.
the intro is nice though... _________________ It's Floam, it's Floam. It's flying foam! |

Are you using ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" as default? I'm still getting the error I already posted when compiling.
One more thing, entrance cvs seems to work perfectly here now, except one problem: When it starts X it leaves port 6000 wide open. Has anyone managed to tweak that? |

not using an ebuild... from cvs.
you need to:
export WANT_AUTOCONF=2.5
export WANT_AUTOMAKE=1.7
or it wont make properly _________________ It's Floam, it's Floam. It's flying foam! |

you have to make .eet files and add them to the correct directory in ~/.e
however, did yours come with a freaken menu? mine didnt. _________________ It's Floam, it's Floam. It's flying foam! |

Where in ~/.e? I have quite many things there already since I'm using engage...
I have a little configuration menu that opens with a right click on the desktop. (about enlightenment, modules, restart, exit)... Other than that I think there is no menu yet :) |

I don't think there is a menu yet, I have never seen any screenshots of a menu. How did you get engage working? It runs here, but it doesn't grab the backround so 1/4 of my screen is black.
update:
The .eet icon files to go ~/.e/e/applications/bar/ |

that's right, engage has a black background, but it's the same with Eterm, seems like there is no support for transparency yet
i also can't minimize anything
well for me it was a really nice prewiev, and i'm getting impatient on a first fully working, or let's say more feature rich release
but for now i'm back on 16.7.1 |

Seems like your not using the cvs ebuilds from portage? Why not? You'll need to add them to package.keywords. Note that they are marked -*. They should work fine, I just updated everything today.
@ gimpel:
Yeah, those things don't work yet... But I'm actually quite suprised how usable this already is once I got ibar working. No virtual desktops takes some time to get used to. I've been running this for a few hours now and it'll be hard to go back to dr 16.7 :) |

Where could I find the ebuilds? The x11-wm/enlightenment-cvs directory does not exist? I search at breakmygentoo.com but I found no ebuilds for enlightenment cvs.

They are in portage. Check www.gentoo-portage.com. There is no enlightenment-cvs ebuild anymore, but check any individual e17 program and you'll see that there is a 9999-version ebuild available. For example emerge -pv engage and see what packages it would get. All of those have a -* keyworded cvs ebuild. |

argh, yes, it was! but i have to do some study work and it would be a real chaos without virtual desktops and no minimizing (or does that work with a functional ibar ?? .. i didn't try that, can't rember if it worked in the video ... think i'll have a look again) ..ngrr .. i was really impressed of that what i saw on startup *g* |

Unfortunately minimizing doesn't work at all yet (as far as I know at least). And yeah, agreed, the startup animation is beautiful It propably looks very good combined with entrance. |

hmm... ok, would be no use atm without vd's _and_ minimizing
i'm already using entrance for some time, and it was really like a "show" starting e17 from entrance .. WOOHAAA! |

I've made it already but if I post it here I'd need quite alot bandwith. Feel free to msg me @ irc (freenode, vrln_) if someone can host it. I've taken some screenshots too.
@gimpel: how did you get entrance to keep the port 6000 closed? It starts x without --nolisten-tcp for some reason. |

hmm... i didn't care about that i have to say, the port is stealthed to the outside world by my shorewall...
what would be the benefits of --nolisten-tcp ?
depending on the size of the video, i could host it on my free webspace at www.funpic.de , wouldn't be the best solution, but would be one (they got no bandwith limit)
