HELLO
I have a toshiba 6100 pro laptop with nvidia graphics card. I followed the instructions
in http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/nvidia-guide.xml and everything went well but
i can only get resolution up to 800x600.
By writing this i get.
$ glxinfo | grep direct
direct rendering: Yes
In the xorg.conf file everthing is fine
Modes "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
Anyone.............
Cheers

Please post your xorg.conf (or XF86Config).
I'd wager the Monitor timings are set wrong in that file but it's hard to tell right now. _________________ Please put [SOLVED] in your topic if you are a moron. |

Hello Try reconfiguring xorg or XFree. Try to add the higher video modes. |

I don't own a Laptop or TFT, but shouldn't this be set to a fixed value instead of a range?
e.g. VertRefresh 75 _________________ Please put [SOLVED] in your topic if you are a moron. |

i assume you've verified that the LCD will actually display
more than 800x600... ? (docs, other o/s)
some don't, especially older ones. _________________ If at any time you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to reconsider your position - Mark Twain |

Check you are editing the right config file.
If you look in the logfile, it will tell you which file its using. |

nephros u need your specific monitor information. there is a knoppix tool in portage to do this. it is VERY handy.
sys-apps/ddcxinfo-knoppix
is the package. get it and run it. it will give u all ur monitor info.

later is better than never...
I have the same problem, If you don't fixed yet try this:
I use the 4496 version of nvida driver, other is wroken.
also with the following module options in /etc/modules.d/nvidia
nvidia NVreg_SoftEDIDs=0 NVreg_Mobile=4
If it doesn't work try other EDID table from other notebook.
read EDID stuff from /usr/share/nvidia-glx/README.gz
And of course, please before you uninstall the driver it doesn't work for you, run nvidia-bug-report.sh to send the bug to nvidia. ![Smile :)](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |
