I've whipped up a quick XCF (Gimp) file that has the PS blending effects rasterized, and a mask to provide the dithering.
You can grab it here (thanks kraylus):

I'm no Gimp/PS master, but I hope this helps someone.
port001: mint icon base!

If I can ever get Linux (Igloo) to work with my SOCKS proxy I'll post the lin kto the Gimp file.
How can I make my Desktop Icons bigger? With a 1200x1000 rez they're kinda small, but uber phat ;p |

I"ll have to move the file to another URL soon (changing hosting about), can some nice person provide another place for it to live? I'm no Gimp/PS master, but I hope this helps someone.

Cool!
Now I think is a good time to put forward an idea I have...
Basicly I thought about there being a group of people who love to make desktops look nice, wallpapers, icons , themes and what not.. but they would expand on these basic things and focus on making Gentoo look nice, for example a hacked up gdm with extra features, an app for setting boot logos and lots of other ideas!
I propose the name "The Gentoo Environment Agency" a kinda pun in there aswell
I'm still learning C and C++ and this would be a great way for me and others to improve thier skills.
Whats everyone think???? |

i suggested something like this a long time ago. basically gather all the resources we have so far (gentoo icons, gentoo desktops, gentoo etc. etc.) and create a unified set of themes and have everyone work on that.
could even do what redhat did with the whole bluecurve thing (but not as "fisher pricey"). that'd be awesome. count me in! _________________ I used gentoo BEFORE it was cool.

Yeh, I'd realy like it to be programing orientated aswell, something other than the OS that Gentoo can put its name to.
Perhaps I should make a new thread for this? |

That sounds like a mad idea.
I posted the links to the buttons I did above, there is also a link to the page that contains them (hopefully everyone won't have to join to get them then)
My biggest question is how can I change the 'K-gear' in my KDE to a 'gentoo-G'? |

by programming orientated I mean, that apart from your usual images that make up a large perecentage of asthetics for a Linux desktop we should attempt our own software, i.e a hacked up GDM that will be unique for Gentoo, also a configuration utility so people can easily modify thier boot logos as outlined in this thread. |

I really would love to see some people put together full Gentoo themes. Right now I use a splashscreen, wallpapers and the themedgdm. I think then if enough art were put together a USE 'gentooart' could be added, so KDE or gnome or mplayer or whatever would come up preconfigured wth it.
Anyways, port001 keep these icons coming, and since everyone else made a request, xawtv. The default kde one sucks. _________________ What Larry was saying is that if you make it too easy for programmers, then poor programmers will be able to do things best left to good programmers, and will inevitably do them poorly. Sounds like a good/fun/nutritious idea
Count me in.
A simple graphical login prog the can be prettied up is Login.app
(yes, it is in the portage tree ).
http://largo.windowmaker.org/Login.app/
A Gentoo-ish theme avaliable as an ebuild would be spiffy. |
